Jim Harmon, Course Superintendent
jim2.jpgplay.jpg Jim Harmon started working on the golf course at age 13 as a caddie. He also worked in the mens locker room and also in the Pro Shop. During that time he found himself always out on the course riding with different members of the grounds crew helping them with whatever jobs they were doing. At age 15 he started working summers as a member of the grounds crew. After high school, having no interest in a career other than golf course maintenance, Jim attended Toledo University and hated every second of it. He then enlisted in the Ohio Air National Guard. After basic and tech school his obligation to the Guard was one weekend per month and two weeks summer camp each year for six years. His only interest still remained working on a golf course. A friend suggested doing it as a career. Jim found the only formal education for Turfgrass at that time was at Michigan State University.

Jim graduated from MSU in 1973 and returned to the same golf course he had worked at all those summers; only this time as the Superintendent. Jim was at that course until 1982 when he accepted the position at Sawmill Creek Resort. He must like it here as he is about to start his 24th year.
